Year Ender Post

Happy New Year!!!!!

Ended the year amazingly! I went to an obstacle course today that made me do things I never imagined I would have done. I never knew I would try walking on a hanging brige that was shaken vigourously, climb through a net to go up, walk through hanging logs or do that crazy stunt called the pirate's swing. Whew! I even tried the zipline too! I'll blog that soon, maybe :D

This year had been a very memorable year. I made LOTS of friends. I really love making friends though it's not easy for me to make friends because I'm a bit shy. I earned my friends by joining and being more active in school organizations and participating in as many events I can.

This year, I am more visibly active in my course's organization, FASO (Fine Arts Student Organization). I made friends with many older Fine Arts students. They are really very nice and we are all very close. I also joined the school's football club(even when I never became a bit athletic my whole life) where many FASO members are also a part in. Through soccer, we spend more time together and I guess that's how we got closer.

I also became more active in a religious organization I am part of. I like the people in this org very much because even if we don't meet always because I miss most of the every Friday meetings, I don't feel left out at all when I do join important events. It's as if I was never gone. Because of YFC, I like how I am kept reminded of my faith because it keeps me grounded.

My friends and I also got closer by the chika times we have. I am very talkative that's why it's an inevitable activity and I'm glad my friends put up to that. HAHA :D

This year, I think I've matured in many ways. I turned 18 this year and realized I've got to try new things because I'm afraid to might miss out parts of my youth. I don't want to grow old and regret because there were some things I didn't do when I could have. My main reason for joining the soccer team was that I want to brag to my future grandkids that their lola (grandma) was a soccer player. HAHA.

So with all the things I did (that includes starting this blog), I've learned a lot!!! The best thing I learned is to love unconditionally. With all the people I've made friends with, I've learned to love them for who they are even without hoping if they'd feel the same to me. That's unconditional <3
I joined my first cosplay this year :) I cosplayed as Tomoyo from Cardcaptor Sakura with my friends

I never thought I'd do this - walking on the ramp in front of a crowd. HAHA

These are some of the new people I've met this year :)

Diva moments with my friends Shari and Andrea. They were with me when I paraded with black paint. (BLACK makes you SIKAT)

With my batchmates on our last photography class last sem

For those who made my 2012 a blast, thank you very much! May we have more adventures next year :D HAPPY NEW YEAR! May God shower you with more blessings in the next year and always :* Take care always and smile :)

Christmas Post ^^

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

As Filipinos, Christmas is really a huge thing here. Christmas decorations are put up to add to the holiday spirits. Again, I will proclaim my laziness haha. We have a six feet Christmas tree but lazy as me and my sisters are, we didn't get the tree from the basement to assemble it in the living room. We didn't want what happened last time to happen again. The last time I remembered we put up that tree for Christmas, the tree went down in February or March. HAHAHA. Indeed, we are lazy.

So this year, we decided to get twigs outside the house and assemble it into a tree. We haven't decided yet if we're gonna throw it away after because if we'll gonna keep it, next year, the tree is already made. No more assembly needed since the twigs are permanently glued. :D

My sisters posing beside the tree

My sisters provided the little things hanging on the leafless Christmas tree :D We also didn't bother to get the Christmas tree decors from our old tree. It's a hassle to find things in the bodega (storage room) hehe. lazy.

My youngest sister also made an origami of the Nativity scene. She also made that small Christmas tree made of a folded magazine (from the previous picture)

while making the tree
First, I used a long twig as a base for the "branches". Then, shorter twigs were positioned along the long twig to become the branches. I used thread to attach the shoerter twig to the base twig. For reinforcements, you can use glue to make sure it would stay in place. I used Greco 888 (cyanoacrylate adhesive)

It's easier if two people to make this tree. One will hold the twig in place while the other would wind around the thread to secure it. I'm just alone in the picture because my sister who was helping took the picture.

I think I made this post too late. Readers could have done the same to decorate their place for the holidays. Well, there's next year. teehee :D

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Shari's Virtual Journal: Crazy Hats!

From my friend's blog again :))

Shari's Virtual Journal: Crazy Hats!: Hai! How are you, barbecue? For our materials class, (we are Product Design students btw) we were individually required to create Crazy ...

BLACK makes you SIKAT

Last December 14, our fine arts department had this event where we would walk around campus in a crazy get up of our choice and promote our event, Mindworks. We wanted to have our bodies painted gold since it would adhere to the Mindworks' theme, Pasikat ( To show off ). We (or I) got the inspiration from the Oscars statues. We were supposed to have only 30 minutes to prepare for the parade so we changed our minds and opted for black since we can wear leggings and tubes to cover our bodies easier. We used leggings and tubes that we already have so that would save us more money. teehee

That's me in the middle.
This is my favorite picture :)

But we took off the wigs before the parade started for more drama. haha

More pictures from my friend Shari's blog

From time to time, I'd link pictures from my friends' blogs. It'd save me time from uploading pictures myself :D I am a little lazy, eh? :DDD

of lucky charms and notting hills

I live in Cebu City, Philippines and there's this part of the city where things are sold very cheap yet one can find many things that are very easy to love. Colon. Once, my family was watching the movie, Notting Hill. My father said that Colon is comparable to that. According to history, interestingly, this street is the oldest street in the Philippines and was founded by the Spaniards who first came to Cebu.

As I was heading for the place where I can ride a jeepney to leave the place, my friend and I passed by a display of accessories. We already passed by but when we caught a glimpse of the display from hindsight, we stopped in our tracks and went back. All unplanned and coincidental. So we asked the guy who was selling and asked him what those accessories were supposed to be. Then, the guy went on saying that the pendants have meanings.

My friend bought the one that meant balance in life. I bought the one that the guy said was a lucky charm. I chose it because the hand looks very intricate and as an artist, I can appreciate hard work and craftsmanship. The guy said it takes him 3 hours to finish two. AND I only bought it for 50 pesos (more or less $1) It was very cheap considering it's handcrafted.

I don't believe in lucky charms. I believe in divine intervention. But somehow, since I began wearing the necklace, I am reminded of the good things happening in my life. I began to recognize the "good luck" when it happens. I know they are blessings and are not brought by my "lucky charm" but because of that lucky charm, I see the good stuff and not recognize those otherwise :)

Actually, the hand looks a bit creepy but I like it :>

sorry for the poor quality pics. these were only taken using my phone camera..

FIRST FASHION SHOW

Last Friday (well, technically that was already during Saturday dawn), our school had this event called UP Cookout where there were many competitions between the different school orgs. One of the programs before the Rampahan (Contestants walk the ramp wearing a elaborate costume that would relate to the message that is "voice over-ed") was a fashion show that wold featrure futuristic designs. We volunteered to do it. We made five designs.

Our concept was to make a futuristic modification to the Disney Princesses' costme. We thought of it maybe because the models who were going to wear the designs were the top five of the previos year's university pageant and they would be comparable to princesses

We started making these on the Saturday before the event. With the help of our friends, we were able to finish on time (actually, just before the fashion show started, hehe -_-")

Here are some pics

Kissey Cabanero as Ariel

Nina Alcoseba as Jasmine

Shari Alexa Paclipan as Sleeping Beauty/Aurora

Debbie Buot as Snow White

Wynonah Buot as Pocahontas

A MILLION THANKS TO OUR COURSEMATES FOR HELPING US FINISH EVERYTHING! Sabina and I will be forever thankful. :)

HIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!! it's been a very looooooooong time since I posted again. I had been busy with plates. All those time working on my plates made me "discern" if I really like my course. Well, I concluded that I enjoyed the hard work and would not trade it for anything in the world. :)) (chos lang! haha) I can't imagine myself having a career not related to design.

Our latest plate that had us very busy for almost a month was this paper gun model. Our gun was inspired by the happy circus. When all our classmates made guns that were meant to do something violent (one way or another) (we had classmates who made their gun with so many blades designed to kill; LOL) It was meant to shoot... TADAA!CONFETTI!!!

Me and my partner, Ate Jeri, holding our gun model.

I was cleaning the last touches when my classmate, Issa, took this picture. It's a good thing the dirty rug can't be seen. hehe

My peg was supposed to be "circus-inspired". The blouse I'm wearing actually had red and yellow stripes which I thought resembled the circus patterns. Sadly, it isn't clearly seen in the pictures.

SITCOM DAY

Today was, as what my friend, Ate Jeri, termed it, SITCOM day. HAHAHA! Lots of fun things happened and I really feel like sharing it. hahaha

I won't share the first sitcom episode, though, it would remain between me and Ate Jeri.

The second episode was epic. I left my bag with my mother and sisters who were in the waiting area to get the car from the parking lot. When we got home, I looked for my bag and turns out (yeah, I know you saw that coming) they left it. But the worst part of it, the only key to our house was in my bag. A bit stupid, yes. So, how we got in? The aircon of our basement was recently removed so I climbed through the small hole to get inside the house. Then, I opened the door from the inside. HAHA! The night was dark, I must have looked like a thief trying to akyat bahay. ..really looked like a scene from a sitcom.

After this day, I'm looking forward for more sitcom episodes

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAREL!!

MADE MY SUMMER

Yesterday can be considered the first day of classes but we didn't have any, though we went to school to welcome the first years. We are good ates and kuyas :D

But before school really starts, I want to share about my summer which was filled with many good stuff. Here's my list of the things that made my summer:

1. Summer Job
This was my first ever summer job and how good it felt when I received my salary!! Though it didn't last since I bought new clothes for the next school year :(
The little kids and my co-teachers. I wasn't there coz I wasn't present that day :D
That's me (fourth from left)

I taught arts and crafts to little kids and they were so cute! Can't wait to see them again next year and meet new ones too :)

2. Love Rain
I am a Kpop fan though not really updated all the time but I watched this drama, Love Rain, because I'm a fan of Jang Geun Seuk and Yoona. I find Yoona so pretty and JGS a very good actor. This drama gave me hopes that someday they would end up with each other. hehe *fingers crossed* :D

Hope they actually end up in a beautiful wedding like this :)
And loved the wedding dress!!

3. New stuff!!!
Aside from new clothes and shoes, I got a new phone which is under a plan so I'm gonna be forever loaded. :DD Also, I moved in to a new bedroom. I got my driver's license this summer! Best of all, new experiences and friends I gained from my first summer job, my most productive summer so far.

4. Friendship bonding time
It was summer yet my friends and I were able to spend time with each other. My college friends, who I first met last year, and I spent time with each other during our summer job and mock photoshoots. My high school friends also went over to our house one day. We spent time catching up, swimming, eating and taking pictures :D It was nice spending time with them again after a long time of not seeing each other.
 Til next time :)

*pictures of our mock photoshoots soon***

My list isn't very long yet these things made my summer the best one so far :) KHB
